Sources

All code data — descriptions, includes/excludes notes, inclusion terms, 7th-character requirements, and Alphabetic Index entries — comes verbatim from the official ICD-10-CM releases published by CMS and CDC/NCHS for each fiscal year. Guideline excerpts are quoted verbatim from the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting with section citations. Prevalence statistics appear only when sourced from CDC, NCHS, or NIH publications, and every statistic carries an inline citation to its source.

HCPCS Level II code data — long and short descriptors, Medicare coverage, Part B pricing, and type-of-service attributes — comes verbatim from the CMS public-domain HCPCS Level II Alpha-Numeric release. The single-letter CMS attribute codes are decoded to plain English using the definitions published in the same CMS HCPCS record layout.

How Pages Are Produced

Code pages are generated deterministically from the official data described above — they present what CMS publishes, computed facts derived from the code set itself (such as category sizes, billability, and year-over-year changes), and cited excerpts. We do not use generative AI to write medical or coding content at scale. The curated ICD-10-CM ↔ HCPCS crosswalk is human-maintained and reviewer-approved, not machine-generated.

Review

Content structure, coding logic (such as billability determination), and curated content (condition guides and statistics) are reviewed by Prajwal Shrestha, CPC, CRC (AAPC Member ID 01997614). Curated condition pages are individually reviewed before publication.

Updates & Corrections

The code set is updated on the CMS fiscal-year cycle (new codes take effect each October 1). Page data reflects the FY2026 release published 2025-10-01; interim corrections are applied as needed. Found an error? Reach us via the web app feedback option, and corrections are reviewed against the official source files.
